About Jo
I'm Jo Cole, a Counselling Psychologist and Board-approved Supervisor with a passion for helping people better understand themselves so they can create lives that feel meaningful.
Seeking support can feel daunting, particularly when life has become overwhelming or you're unsure why you're feeling the way you do. My aim is to offer a space where you can slow down, really feel heard, and begin making sense of your experiences without judgement.
I work with young people (16+ years) and adults who are experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, perfectionism, burnout and questions around identity and self-worth. I particularly enjoy working with people who want to understand themselves more deeply, including the patterns, beliefs and experiences that may be shaping how they feel and relate to themselves and others. Whether you're going through a particular challenge or have been feeling stuck for a while, therapy can be a chance to make sense of what's happening, build new skills and move towards the life you want to live.
My approach is warm, collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practice. I draw primarily on Schema Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while tailoring therapy to each person's goals, strengths and experiences. I believe change can often come from understanding ourselves better and finding practical ways to do things differently, and that the relationship we build in therapy really matters.
Alongside my clinical work, I provide professional supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals. I aim to create a supportive and reflective space where clinicians can continue to grow in confidence, competence and authenticity.
Outside of being a psychologist I am a mum of 2 and I like to spend my spare time reading, being near water (the beach if I can make it!), and spending time with friends and family.
